6th Grade Band
The 6th grade band at Everts Middle School is open to ANY enrolled 6th grader. Recruitment for the band begins in later winter of the students 5th grade year. Registration takes place either by returning a registration sheet, or using the online registration page on this website. Students may still enroll during the summer and early fall of their 6th grade year. If a student wishes to join band during the later parts of the school year, students will usually have to wait for the following year.
The primary focus of the 6th grade band is to develop good habits as they relate to a full band ensemble and an at-home practice environment. This includes: instrument assembly, instrument care, proper posture, proper embouchure, characteristic tone for their instrument and music reading fundamentals. Students who master this skills will not only enjoy band much more, but be more prepared for the higher grade levels.

Practice!
Many students claim they don't know what to practice! First of all, if your student is not already actively practicing, they will not be progressing. Students should be practicing on a regular basis of 6 days a week for about 10-15 minutes of GOOD and FOCUSED practiced.
